Wallace Family Summer Interns Meet Mark Wallace

L to R: Mark Wallace, Carson Murray, Sue McNeil, Adam Morin, David Risk, Marcia English

Thursday evening, February 23rd, 2017, two of the Wallace Interns, Carson Murray and Adam Morin, and their mentors, David Risk and Marcia English,  met their benefactor, Mark Wallace, Chair of the StFX Board of Governors. Through the generous support of the Wallace Family Entrepreneurship Fund, StFX Extension, through their Innovation and Enterprise Centre, was able to offer students with an innovative idea and who were interested in starting a new venture, a 12 week summer internship experience.

According the Sue McNeil, centre coordinator, the evening was energetic and informational, allowing the interns to share their experience through the internship face to face with Mark. Both expressed their gratitude to the Wallace family for enabling them to work on their ventures throughout the summer, unimpeded by the need to seek full time work to support themselves and their education. The mentors also shared their experience and gratitude with Mark, seeing the internships as a positive addition to the student experience, allowing their students to apply their knowledge in a practical and meaningful way.

Mark was impressed by the innovative ideas the interns developed, their progress in creating their ventures, and their commitment to the internships and entrepreneurship as a potential career choice. He was excited by the results of the first year of the Wallace Family Summer Internships and is looking forward to following the progress of the 2017 interns.
